Success comes in many forms and you can’t get caught up measuring yours to what others have achieved… to a degree. Of course, I am always looking at other photographers who I admire, trying to learn from what they have accomplished. Someone told me, “Comparison is the thief of joy,” and I really believe that. I want to set my own goals and live by standards that are appropriate for me and my circumstances.
Last week, I was able to achieve one of my endeavors. I had an image published with National Geographic in their travel section online. I always wanted an image printed in their distributed magazine, but this will satisfy me just the same. Sometimes, reaching your goals looks differently than what you expected. So give yourself some grace and allow good things to come in all sorts.
And be grateful for what you have.
